Annamarie Victor

I'm so thrilled to be a part of The Deserted team. I moved to Laramie a year ago and quickly fell in love with the resplendent art scene here. Once upon a time I was a corporate marketing specialist but after a year of my soul being slowly drained away under the ever-demanding needs of capitalism I quit. It was time to focus on what mattered: art. Now, I am an author. My book of poetry In The Way is available online and in limited bookstores. My goal, while I am here in Laramie, is to help artists, writers, and creatives like yourselves reach wider audiences and have your art shared with the world. Keep your art weird! Welcome to the zine!

Conner Waring

Well, howdy! Back in my day, this here town was flooded with locally made zines. It was sick. The art of zine invaded my soul, grabbed my creativity by the cajones, and threw my tender-fleshed scrapbooking brain bits into the punk mosh pit of anarcho-self publication. Ever since, it's been a tradition of mine to make personalized zany zines for beloved friends when they move away. Some turned into class projects, and now, finally, with so much support and help from experienced weirdos with a variety of talents, we are able to bring you this nifty gifty. With this first edition of The Deserted, we are continuing the underground movement of opinionated nonsense for your sick enjoyment. Enjoy, and if you don’t, well, it’s fucking free anyways.

Emo Mailman

Emo Mailman, me, like many others, felt like it was impossible to love thyself: to feel positively connected to the way I feel and the things I do. It was awful being by myself. I thought that I needed people to add value to my life and keep me happy. One day, the whole world shut down and I was forced to be by myself and being around someone you hate is miserable. I had to, had to, learn how to like myself if I was going to get through however long a pandemic can last. If you are someone who has struggled to love and accept yourself, I feel like I can give you some advice. I have my bachelors and masters degree in social work and work as a clinical therapist; giving informed recommendations is something I love. To support more of you beautiful readers I would love to give you some guidance on how to navigate this world and love yourself along the way.

Jellyfish Spine

What’s the truth about Jelly? Jelly is a 26 year old Leo sun, Taurus moon, and Pisces rising — do with this information what you will. She is passionate about getting the type of high where music sounds particularly good. She has a penchant for creative writing and has a habit of biting off more than she can chew. She is an unashamed Coldplay fan and an ashamed Brand New fan, though some would say being a Coldplay fan is worse. Her artistic medium is MS PowerPoint.

Josiah Colbert

All my life I have been drawing a single line. The same line. It is just how I position the viewer in front of the line and say, “check this out.” I have done the cover and the comic for this zine. I hope you like them. This is my first attempt at a comic. I hope you see something worth remembering.

The Swashfuckler

I like to think of myself as a Pan Connoisseur... wait, that makes me sound like I actually like pans, when we all know that pansexuals don't actually like kitchenware. Let me start over. I guess you could say I'm a Pirate of the Privates, a "Swash-fuck-ler", if you will. Moving on. While there's only one person who holds my cold, dying heart in their hands now, I've had my fair share of the awkward sex and kink talks. So, I'm looking to share what I've learned with you, dear readers. Whether your questions and concerns are about queerness, or sex, or those damned kinks you may have read about in that one smutty book... I will not judge, and I'll offer the sage wisdom my 23, going on 24, years of life as a queer slut have given me.
